A Bug In The Game

The Bug Game, Zoom up and down and all around in this cool flying game that will leave you buzzing for more!

You are the Queen Administrator Shard, and you are quite happy today. Your host has finally managed to get herself into a position where you’re allowed to offer her access to your powers! Now, to find something to ping off of. A pair of worms spiral through an infinite void, speckled with uncountable stars. [Destination] A small blue and green planet floats calmly in the distance. [Agree-] A storm howls, interrupting you.

A Bug In The Game

[Irritation] “This one is mine.” A thousand winds roar. Ugh, can’t she be quieter? Besides, this one’s yours! You were here first! [Disagreement] “Do not forget your place, shard.” Uncountable insects buzz.

“I have already slain one of your progenitors.”. Just because she can casually wipe you from existence doesn’t mean she gets to be so mean. Besides, all you want to do is help!

She said you could! She’s going back on her word.

Jerk [Irritation] “Nevertheless.” A raging forest fire cackles. [Resignation] Wait. Hold on, you have an idea. Maybe you could give your powers at the same time she gives the girl her own gift? That would work, right? It’s not like you’d interfere with each other or anything. [Query] “Perhaps.” An avalanche rumbled.

I shall allow it. We shall both grant our gifts upon this one.” Awesome! No, that might mess with your data.

So both of you have to make sure that you’ve given other hosts your gifts on their own. Well, Gaia needs to. You’ll just hardcode your bud once you make one. That’s okay, right?

[Condition] A volcano bubbles. But first.” Ugh. [Confusion] The girl is dreaming.

She thinks in an empty field. There’s another being in front of her, looking like another shard messed up on adjusting their host.

Or maybe gave their host changing powers. The not-host has brown skin, like mud, not human brown, and her hair looks like tangled weeds.

“Pathetic.” She says disdainfully, revealing sharp, canine fangs. “Is that really all you can do? All you can be?” Ugh, who designed that one?

It looks like the avatar that Gaia tends to. Huh, that makes sense. “What do you want?” Your host asks. Her voice is really soft, and she doesn’t seem to be paying much attention. That’s because she’s watching mom and dad, as is right and proper. They’re much more awesome than this ball of mud.

“I want to know if this is what breaks you.” Gaia whispers. Her voice is silly, and not very well made, more like water rushing along a riverbank than any noise produced by a human throat.

The host glances sideways, then seems kinda surprised to see that Gaia’s so close. You poke at her emotions, but don’t really feel any. You should probably change that in a bit. “Is this how it goes? You break so hard, that the world itself gives you powers out of pity?” “I’m not broken.” Your host mutters. There’s a small flicker of aggression/conflict, but it quickly dies down. “Aren’t you?” Gaia challenges, “Then prove it.

I’ll give you a small gift of my own. Break them instead.” “Break who?” The host’s thoughts are starting to grow cloudy. Well, that’s fine, it’s not like you need to access them yet. “Everyone.” Gaia whispers. Shatter everything that held you down. Everyone who betrayed or failed you.

Find your limits, and rush past them. Show the world that you’re not to be pitied, and never stop.” The host whispers something. It’s not really coherent, but checking her thoughts, she meant to ask “why”. “So that when the creatures ask what gives you the right to exist, you can say this.

That they were given their power, their strength. That in the end, it is not theirs. But you shattered everything that stood before you, and took this strength yourself.”. Wait a second, did she just insult you? [Irritation] Ugh, what was all that about, anyway? [Confusion] [Query] “We’re testing her in the crucible of combat, are we not?” Thunder crashes.

“You drive the girl to fight in your way. I’ll do so in mine.”. That makes sense. Well, you could have just poked at her emotions until she tried to kill something, but whatever else you say about her, Gaia probably knows a lot more about the hosts than you do. Comprehension.] Gaia gives you a disdainful sniff then leaves.

In the meantime, it’s time for you to pick what powers you want your host to have. You’re Queen Administrator, so it’ll have to be related to ordering things around. What did she ask for, anyway? You can give her those!

You can give her lots of those! And they’ll never leave her! Plus, it’s simple and easy, and you’ll be able to make a bud with this ability without much trouble at all. You’re sure she won’t object to having a bunch of simple minded creatures under her control. Why would she?

They’ll be her best friends ever! (Canon bug control. Higher skill level in utilizing QA increases her range) [] Control. Well that’s rather ambiguous.

Eh, might as well. You’ll just give her control over other shards, so she can see what it’s like. Oh, but you’ll need limits. Maybe just weakening or strengthening the limits of the shards of whoever she touches? (Allows Taylor to strengthen or weaken the powers of someone by touching them. The higher her skill level in utilizing QA, the more she can adjust their power.

This isn’t a second trigger as much as it simply increases the range/duration/whatever temporarily.) [] Power. Gaia already gave her that, you’re pretty sure. Now you feel useless. Oh, but Gaia’s gifts need that mana stuff, right?

You could go ahead and try to control that for her! You have no idea how that stuff works, but it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out, right?

You’ll get a lot of information for the cycle, but you can’t use mana directly, so who knows how useful it’ll be? Still, it’s interesting, so you’ll do it!

(This doesn’t have any active effect, but instead passively buffs Taylor’s magic. Higher skill level strengthens magic further.) AN: Because I’m tired of The Gamer crossovers not actually having elements from the setting of the Gamer, and just having the power. This one does, and is going to be AU so hard that it’ll break past the barrier locking the various earths off from the rest of the multiverse! (Not really.) Anywho, the rest of this Quest will be from Taylor's POV.

This is the prologue. Anyway, your first choice won't just determine what power she gets, but also how, exactly, she triggered.

Canon bug controll. Known and usefull. Could be fun or it could be boring rehash.

Power Manipulation, High Risk High Gain. People will WANT controll of that power. Mana Administraltion. Low risk, low gain. Subtle yet eventually powerfull. Gives more dakka but not really standing out. Unless somone can convince me I am Leaning towards [X]Power Mostly because this way we can concentrate on Gamer.

And that power is enough. Bugs are iffy and kinda boring by nkw. The spider silk is the only meta reason Id want it. Power manipulations is cool an all but does the QM really want to track all those variables? You can give her those!

You can give her lots of those! And they’ll never leave her! Plus, it’s simple and easy, and you’ll be able to make a bud with this ability without much trouble at all. (Canon bug control. Higher skill level in utilizing QA increases her range) This seems much more interesting than just going with an empowered version of the generic gamer power, especially if we ever gain the ability to fire lasers from our bugs. More dakka is best dakka. Vote tally: ##### 3.21 [X] Friends. You can give her those!

They'll be her best friends ever! (Canon bug control. Higher skill level in utilizing QA increases her range) You are Taylor Hebert, and you are quite traumatized today.

You're not quite sure, because for some reason, you feel oddly calm. You absently consider that you might have had a psychotic break. The large blue screen floating in front of your face isn't really helping disprove that idea. You consider ignoring it until it goes away. Unfortunately, it seems to be taking up most of your field of vision, and the talk with. Everyone's going to be enough of a hassle, even without having to look past the strange text floating in midair. Unfortunately, you're not exactly sure how to deal with this.

It's not like you have any idea how this thing works. But then again, you've seen tinker-tech hologram projectors before, and this looks. Reasonably like how you'd imagine one to look.

It looks similar to how they're portrayed on TV, anyway. You hit the arrow, and the screen disappears, only to be replaced with more text. On the one hand, that worked. On the other hand, it didn't work as much as you'd hoped. You feel a brief flash of excitement at the implication that you've been granted a power, as well as a vague sense of satisfaction at finally knowing just where it is they come from, but it quickly fades into the same. Placidity of the rest of your emotions. No, that's not right, you muse.

Your emotions are still there, you definitely feel them. They're just.

You weren't ever the type to throw a tantrum or anything, and you've only gained in self control since the bullying started, since Emma started hitting every emotional weak spot you had, since Mom disappeared. Still, your rage and betrayal at her actions, your excitement over the implication of having powers, your irritation over being stuck in this hospital bed, everything feels so oddly. You feel a bit worried about that, but that feels impersonal as well.

You shake your head, then hit yes. You doubt most powers would offer a tutorial, why would you turn one down? A new box opens, this time with a small red X in the upper right hand corner. [] Check the Inventory. [] Check the Status menu. [] Check the Skills menu. [] Check the options menu.

If this is a power, it's the stupidest one ever. Maybe someone like Uber or Leet would have enjoyed it, this seems right up their ally, but you doubt you'll find any use for it. --[] And try to figure out why the hell you feel like you're in 30 places at once..
